Level 1 vs Level 2 Kids Yoga Teacher Training
Compare the 50-hour Level 1, 95-hour Level 2 and 145-hour Full Journey. Understand practical assessment, course certificates and professional registration.
Course details reviewed 1 October 2026. Level 1 builds your foundation; Level 2 develops it through further study and teaching practice. Choose according to your experience and the children you want to teach.
Level 1 or Level 2: where should you start?
Rainbow Yoga brings children together through movement, games, stories, breathing and relaxation. The training is about learning to guide a whole group, make space for children's ideas and adapt a class as it unfolds.
Level 1 Online: the 50-hour foundation
Level 1 online kids yoga teacher training is open to beginners, educators, parents and yoga teachers. You do not need a previous yoga teaching qualification to enrol. Explore class planning, yoga games, partner and group yoga, mindfulness and ways to support different forms of participation.
Completion includes all lessons and prompts, a 30-question exam, a class plan and playlist, and a short teaching video with at least two children. Read the current Level 1 assessment requirements before planning your study.

Level 2: 95 hours of deeper learning
Level 2 kids yoga teacher training follows an eligible foundation. It develops your teaching through further lesson work, class plans, practice or teaching videos, quizzes and feedback. Review the current entry requirements if you are joining after previous training.
Explore classroom yoga, teaching teenagers, inclusion and additional needs, and anatomy and physiology. The training team reviews your work and teaching progress before issuing the 95-hour Rainbow Yoga certificate.
Full Journey: both online levels together
The Full Journey combines Levels 1 and 2: approximately 145 hours of self-paced study, with the completion requirements of both courses. It suits people who want the foundation and advanced pathway from the start. If you have already completed Level 1, compare the standalone Level 2 option first.

Course certification and professional registration
Your Rainbow Yoga certificate records successful completion of the relevant course. Yoga Alliance's Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT) credential is a separate registration process; completing a Rainbow Yoga course does not automatically award it.
The kids yoga certification and recognition guide explains the separate 200-hour foundation, children's training, teaching experience and registration requirements. The 145-hour Full Journey does not replace a separate 200-hour yoga teacher training. Check the current school listing and your eligibility with Yoga Alliance if RCYT is your goal.
Rainbow Yoga's course instructions also require the Level 2 final assessment class for the RCYT pathway to be taught live on Zoom with Gopala attending. Arrange this with the team. For Yoga Australia, consult the current Level 1 course listing and ask about individual registration separately.
Before offering classes, check your intended organisation's and insurer's requirements. A course certificate does not guarantee acceptance by every employer or insurer.
See what teaching practice can look like
Our published story about Level 2 student Liz Hut teaching in Cambodia shares a real teaching assignment. It is one student's example of putting learning into practice.
