Yoga Without Borders – Volunteer in India

Make People's World  A Better Place With Us!

A Rainbow Yoga + Yoga Gives Back + Edu-GIRLS Collaboration

Use Your Yoga to Change Lives – Including Your Own

Welcome to Yoga Without Borders — a powerful new initiative that invites you to bring the heart of Rainbow Yoga to where it's needed most. In partnership with Yoga Gives Back and Edu-GIRLS, this program gives certified kids yoga teachers the opportunity to volunteer at girls' schools in India, empowering students through yoga, mindfulness, and love.

Together, we’re creating lasting impact for girls from underprivileged backgrounds, supporting their emotional wellbeing, confidence, and connection through yoga. And we’re inviting you to be part of it.

🌍 The Mission

Yoga Without Borders exists to:

  • Make yoga accessible, meaningful, and culturally sensitive for girls in India.

  • Provide students with essential life tools: emotional regulation, stress relief, self-awareness, and joy.

  • Leave lasting impact by training teachers and leaving behind practical tools for a better life.

  • Empower volunteer yoga teachers to grow, connect, and serve in the birthplace of yoga.

🏫 About Our Partners

Yoga Gives Back is a global nonprofit that mobilizes the yoga community to support women and children in India through education, microloans, and empowerment programs. They turn the global gratitude for yoga into direct action that uplifts lives.

Edu-GIRLS supports underprivileged girls in India through free, high-quality education from preschool to university. They believe that every girl deserves the chance to create her own future.

Together with Rainbow Yoga, these organizations form the foundation of Yoga Without Borders — blending yoga, education, and empowerment into one life-changing experience.

✨ What You'll Do

As a volunteer yoga teacher, you’ll:

  • Lead 60 minutes daily yoga classes for the whole school.

  • Offer 5–10 minute classroom-based yoga and mindfulness breaks to promote focus, self-regulation, and calm — right at students’ desks.

  • Support students across pre-school to high school, with age-specific classes tailored to their developmental and emotional needs.

  • Emphasize fun and play for younger kids, and topics like body image, anxiety, and self-confidence for teens.

  • Use Rainbow Yoga’s interactive and social approach to create connection and community.

  • Help implement mindfulness tools and card decks that teachers can use long after you’ve left.

🤝 Your Commitment

We ask our volunteers to commit to:

  • A minimum of 1 month in India.

  • Teaching up to 3 hours of yoga per day.

  • Participating in preparation Zoom calls and co-creating class plans with Rainbow Yoga support.

This program is open to graduates of Rainbow Kids Yoga, and other kids yoga teacher trainings upon review.

💛 We Take Care of You

We want you to feel safe, supported, and inspired every step of the way. Volunteers receive:

  • 🏡 Comfortable accommodation on school grounds

  • 🍛 Nutritious vegetarian meals

  • 🧺 Laundry services

  • 💵 A $200 USD monthly stipend for personal needs

  • 🚐 Pickup and drop-off from Delhi Airport

  • 🎓 Ongoing guidance and class planning support from Gopala and the Rainbow Yoga team

  • 🪪 A certificate of service and impact at the end of your time

You’ll be welcomed like family — by the school, the students, and the mission.

🌟 Why Are We Bringing Kids Yoga To India?

Although yoga was born in India, access to it in schools is still very limited. Edu-GIRLS invited Yoga Without Borders to teach at their schools because they see the transformative power of yoga and want their girls to experience it directly. Bringing trained children’s yoga teachers from around the world not only offers the girls tools for focus, stress management, emotional balance, and self-confidence, but also gives them the invaluable opportunity to interact with the global yoga community. As Vandana from Edu-GIRLS so beautifully said:

“Staying and interacting with international community gives our girls exposure to global world and widens their horizon to open their wings and fly freely.”

“Integrating yoga into school education nurtures not only the body, but also the mind and spirit — fostering focus, resilience, and inner peace in our students who comes from very challenged and underserved communities.”

This program is not about “teaching India yoga,” but about creating connection, exchange, and empowerment — honoring yoga’s roots while giving the girls the tools to thrive in today’s interconnected world.

🌟 Fundraising Support

If you’re feeling the call but unsure about travel costs — we’ve got you!
Rainbow Yoga, Yoga Gives Back, and Edu-GIRLS will support you in fundraising efforts by sharing your campaign across our social media platforms and helping you connect with your wider community.

You’ll be surprised how many people are willing to support something this meaningful.

🌟 How This Project Started

“This February, YGB Founder Kayoko Mitsumatsu and Board Member Deepa Chemery visited Vimukti School run by Edu-Girls, in Jaipur.
It was a very inspiring experience to see the girls’  dedication and positive attitude for academic discipline as well as physical exercises, despite harsh background due to poverty and related issues at home. During this memorable visit, the school's Principal and teachers asked if YGB would send our Global Ambassadors to teach yoga and share their cultures with the girls who do not have opportunity to learn benefits of yoga practices nor experience different cultures. We were moved by this invitation as another opportunity to give back to Mother Land of yoga. Upon returning from India, we invited Gopala Yaffa of Rainbow Kids Yoga in Australia to join forces for his keen interest in giving ack and expertise in kids yoga teacher training. The rest is history and we are very excited about this collaboration in giving back and launch Yoga Without Borders.”
